Where to stay in Marrakech

That’s one of the first decisions you should make for your Marrakech getaway. There are plenty of options from big resorts to small hotels, from local accommodations to typical riads.

I’ve chosen this last option as I wanted to have a genuine morocco experience and I stayed in 3 riads for 4 nights. A little bit stressful to be moving all the time? Maybe, but it was totally worth it as each of the riads was so unique and was a destination itself. Marrakech is beautiful and one of the most interesting cities I’ve visited so far. But sometimes it might become a little bit hectic and overwhelming. Entering a riad is like finding an oasis of peace in the middle of the city.

I stayed in my first night in Marrakech at Riad 11 Zitoune. This is a small riad just in a perfect location at the city center, less than 5 minutes walking from the main square Jemaa el-Fna. We organized the transfer from the airport with the riad and since the moment that we arrived, the owner made us a feel at home. The riad has a lovely courtyard where we had lunch and breakfast and a beautiful terrace. The suite was absolutely beautiful, decorated in a morocco style, and I felt I inside a One Thousand and One Nights tale.

For my second night in Marrakech I selected one of the most Instagrammable accommodations ever: Riad Yasmine. I had been dreaming about this place for so long but I knew it is always fully booked. So I couldn’t believe how lucky I was when I realized the only night it was available in July was in my birthday. There are no words to describe how beautiful this place is! Its stunning patio and its small pool decorated in green and white tiles are a travel goal for themselves and one of the best photo shooting locations ever. It also has a rooftop with great views to the city.

For my last two nights I decided to spoil myself staying in the amazing La Sultana Marrakech. The location is perfect next door to one of the most known monuments in the city – Saadian Tombs in the Kasbah. La Sultana is a complex of different exquisite riads and I felt like a real princess in a real morocco palace. Everything is beautiful and organized to provide guest the best possible experience. The pool is amazing, the rooftop bar has the best views of the city, and the hammam spa is a gem in the middle of the riad. The staff of La Sultana couldn’t be more helpful. They organized me a surprise during my birthday dinner and they also helped me to arrange my hot air balloon flight.

I’m sure there are other great accommodation options in Marrakech but I’m happy about my choices as they allowed me to have great and different experiences.
